The Edge

~

She skipped along the edge of the lake,

her refection dancing upon it's clear smooth surface,

light blonde hair flowing

in the cool April breeze,

humming a melodic springtime tune

while happily tossing flower petals

into the water . . .

and as I watch from the thicket

at the edge of the woods,

I am mesmerized by her charm

when it occurs to me . . .

I have never seen the lake

look more beautiful
