Why can't I forget you?

Why can't I forget you?

A Poem by Eilidh

I'm alone
In this dark room
Looking out at the stars
Remembering everything we said
The ways you looked at me
When you said I love you
And it's breaking me in two

How can you leave someone
Who you said you loved
And wanted to go through life with
How can you abandon that person
Please tell me
So I can do it too

I want to forget you
Your name, how you treated me
How you made me feel inside
But I can't

The alcohol hits my throat
And the memories come flooding back
I start to forget my name
But not yours
Why can't I forget you?

I start to fade away
And all I can hear is your voice
Saying
I love you

A nice sad poem. I have seen many of lovers abandon their love. So this feeling may be in any broken heart. I like this poem and it says the truth.
