Interesting how the beloved, loving hound turned abruptly into a man, which ruined everything. Are we to take this literally, or is this "dream" actually a comment on a relationship? Lacking egos, dogs project an innocence that is often beyond humans.
PS: Thanks for including me in your list of poets who have influenced you. It has not been a one way street, though. I have often been impressed by your skill with words and your willingness to experiment.

Indeed, that innocence is what moved me to write this poem. Thank you dear John.

Your poetry always inspires me with its deep wisdom and inner clarity and the mention is my way of thanking you for it. You're most welcome.
Dreams are always mysterious and what we think we are dreaming of never appears to be all it seems. Dog as man or man as dog? Both can show love and loyalty in equal measure. The dream only turns to nightmare if the man is a real dog of a man in actuality. So here is hoping it was just a dream. A most intriguing premise for a poem, Divya. Well written and enjoyed by me.

What a turn in the end! I didn't see that coming. You animated the Hound very well. Reading this was like augmented reality, I could see him in front of me, so clearly. I understand why it turns into a nightmare just because it's a man. Dogs are man's best friend, yet we're nothing alike. Dogs are often nicer. A well-written poem, DIVYA, as always. tyfs

There was no real dislike of the man but just dissapointment more for missing the wonderful dog. My heartfelt thanks for such encouraging words on this poem. You are appreciated very much!
Wow. That ended differently than I supposed. Very powerful. I started to tear up in the beginning because I love dogs so much. Sometimes a good dog or two is all we need.

Thank you so much. I agree about dogs being all we need.
Dogs are a permanent source of joy whereas us men only have moments. If I were a woman I'd stick to dogs:)
Good morning Divya, hope you are well. As always enjoyed reading you

Thank you for the lovely advice and the kind words, dear Gee. I'm having a fine day, thank you. :)
Such an intriguing tale or should I say tail. I have had dogs throughout my life and loved each one dearly, but not nearly as much as they loved me, often much more than I deserved. If I had been asked if I would have wanted any of them to turn into a person I can't think of anyone that I would replace a dog for. A sad commentary on mankind. The poem had great meter and internal hidden rhymes it just pulled me along like a dog on a leash.
