Happily Ever After

Happily Ever After

A Poem by FlatLineBeauty

As a little girl I dreamed so many times
Of my prince coming to find me
To take me away
Happily ever after
Time went by
That little girl grew up
She lost all belief in fairy tales
There are many princes
Most don't go by charming
They are nice for a time
After time some change
Some for better
Others for worse
I thought I had mine
That happily ever after
Was finally here
He won me over with his smile
I loved his playful nature
Time went on
The smiles began to fade
Laughs turned to screaming
Smiles turned to crying
Each day that passed
Seemed to get longer
Each day a trap was set
Making it harder
To climb out of the abyss
Everyone says how easy it is
Just to leave
But no one knows
The individual traps set
A part of me has died
Bit by bit inside
Do everyone a favor
Keep fairy tales to yourself
Don't fill up a little girls head
With false tales
Make sure she knows
Make sure she understands
Fairy tales are just stories
Happily ever after
Isn't for everyone
Teach her to be strong
Show her independence
Little girls should know
Happily ever after
Isn't always finding a prince

Nothing wrong with a reality check from time to time to stay grounded, you shouldn't fill anyone's head with illusions of the real word, I agree. But I for one believe in happily ever after LOL I am a romantic at heart, a heart that has been broken more times than I can count but is now happy. You shouldn't need a prince to make you happy, and you shouldn't expect one, I agree. But it's real nice when you finally find one :)

Having been married three different times to three different women, l can tell you that there are a lot of women out there that think they are princesses, but turn out to be wicked witches. Don't let other peoples dreams and stories determine your life. You and you alone get to write the fairy tail ending. Imagine it, write it down, find a way to accomplish your dreams and do it. Very revealing write here. Trace

Thank you I appreciate it
The author in the poem describes that the prince is in her subconcious, visualized by everything her parents told her when she was little as in bed time stories.

You sum this up quite nicely about prince charming and the reality of it all:

Make sure she knows
Make sure she understands
Fairy tales are just stories
Happily ever after
Isn't for everyone
Teach her to be strong
Show her independence
Little girls should know
Happily ever after
Isn't always finding a prince

I liked the closing lines of this...you go in depth with the verse...
