Chocolate

A poem about chocolate. Sort of.

I'm not a fan of chocolate, 

I think it tastes like dirt. 

 It smudges on my finger tips 

 And leaves stains on my shirt. 

 

My friends cannot believe this. 

 "Impossible!" they say. 

 Amid their looks of horror, 

 I quickly walk away. 

 I'm not a fan of chocolate. 

 That's fairly odd, it seems. 

 It keeps me wide awake at night. 

 It haunts me in my dreams... 

 I try, so hard, to take a bite. 

 I cry and choke and spit. 

 I really start to wonder: 

 How can people eat this... stuff. 

 And while I gaze at cake displays 

 And dream of what could be 

 I'm not a fan of chocolate, 

 And it's not a fan of me...

I like it, I like it, I like it! It's funny, witty, whimsical, and every line packs a good punch (even that throw -off where we know you're going to say a dirty word, but censor yourself). Well freaking done!

favorite bits: "stuff" when the rhyme tells us what you really meant, I wonder what "it's not a fan of me" means.
