Survivability

Survivability

A Poem by Wolfwind

A view, a vista

A foggy mist obscures

Once solid, swaying

Creaking and groaning

Security waivers

Trepidation

Bang!

A cable broken in time

Legs move, feet shift

Compensate upon

Shaky ground

Clang! Bang! Snap!

Metal screaming a protest

Hands to reach

Surface shifts

Prone upon concrete

Cracking, buckling

Bang! Boom! Echoes…

Scrambling motions

Subtle notions of safety vanish

Decisions

To an edge swift

Grip and grapple

Fists clenched

Thundering roar!

Crack! Boom! Bang

Feet swaying

Thoughts praying

Silence…with dust and ashes

Splashes

A vista, a view

Empty of that bridge

The fog embraces

The soul

A wolf walks on

Survival

A cable care that in the haze is a ride of no-return. All the while a lone figure watches it all unfold. Whether he be the mastermind behind this tragedy or a simple spectator..I'm not sure. The descriptions go from almost slow motion as though you are the one inside..back out to the quick rapid visual below and to the side of that bridge cable car tumbling into the river. One would wonder..I know I do..if it is an actual wolf watching or a "wolf" in the metaphoric sense. Is that what you were asking for in your Author's Note? :) Great piece too..lol Had to throw that in there for emphasis.. ;)

This was awesome and I mean that in the true sense of the word. I like how the words and thoughts are broken so that you get the full impact of the peice....every words then holds its own power. Very nicely written.
