You were lying in that hospital bed,

As you had for years now,

You were sitting up,

Looking so much better,

The doctors said you were nearly free.

 

You were laughing with me,

For the first time ever,

Holding news that the terrible curse had lifted.

 

Why did no one warn me,

I was happy before that day,

Was all that lying really worth,
