What of Me?

What of Me?

A Poem by

This is not love
Because love is not burning desire and bittersweet passion
Love is hurt
And cold
And betrayal
Because in the end,
You always come back

Love does not need words to be alive
It doesn't require explanation, or touch
The lust that accompanies love is not a source
Love is loneliness
And midnight
And wrong
Because in the end,
You always go back

What you speak of does not exist in this real world
It is only in the dreams of the young
Even the young hearts with aged minds know such things
Love is cruel
And violent
And vicious
But in the end,
You always stay back.

So very nicely said, and truthful too.
This is amazing!

Wow.

That was utterly phenomenal. You hit home. That really is all I can say.
I identify with what you say exactly.

I love the diction you use to convey how you feel about this... Love is viewed so differently to people so it's interesting to hear someone else's take on it. Beautiful poem, I like it!

This is hauntingly beautiful, and I mean that in the best way possible. It shines a light on the darker side of love, and really digs down to the core of it. I thoroughly enjoyed this poem.

Strong statements in this poem. You open the door to questions with your poem. Love is different for all people. Some want less or more. Love is not hateful or violence. It is support to be kind. I could feel the anger and disappointment in the words. A excellent poem.

This is really good. I like the last line that always repeats. It gives it a nice rythm
