Melpomane

Melpomane

A Poem by
"

The journey from heartbreak to hope. The title is a reference to Melpomane (mel-po-ma-ne) who was one of the 9 muses of art and literature in Greek mythology. Melpomane was the muse of tragedy.

"
Each dusk, each dawn, a mirror of the next.
A raging battle ensues between time and my heart.
A schism grows between the time to live and time to reflect
Whereas health and intuition are fluid, love is an art

The many cloaks and shadows I have donned, the many masks
Memories, roles, people I am not and yet should have been
Now meld and merge and to form a face scriptured with its tasks
So hard to die, yet so hard to live, amongst the tragedies I have seen

Yet hope remains and may flourish when ones courage is true
Even the most desperate of our kind may to themselves be a saviour
They can prosper and thrive without a traitor such as you
For in love one must guard their soul in its heroic labours.
