Keeps Me Up At Night.

Keeps Me Up At Night.

A Poem by
"

This was inspired by lotion. Yeah. Lotion. It smelled like summer. 'Milk and honey." I couldnt sleep until i wrote it but i didnt want to. Who wants to write about lotion !?

"

The taste of summer's sweet

Sailboats line the shore

We're in the parking lot

Of a late night grocery store

In the back of his truck

Gazing up at the stars

And its just his luck

That its come this far

My muscles lock up

As our eyes meet

Moon dancing on our skin

Milk and honey in the heat

Fogging up the windows

And our blood runs thin

From the champagne bubbles

Look at the mess we're in

The tide pulls me under

Waves creep up the sand

Sticky scent of summer love

Back by popular demand

I still drift back to those days

We spent hand in hand

Sun kissing our cheeks

And its too damn bad

We went our seperate ways

On opposite sides of the globe

Both lying on a beach

Wonderin' where you are

And if youre thinking of me

With the sea salt in the air

And the sand in our hair

I close my eyes and we're still there

Where you tasted so sweet

In the back of that truck

Basking in our summer heat

Do you see what i see

From sea to shining sea

Id put it on repeat

Except this time around

You would never have to leave
