~ The Man on the Hill

In a dark hole, in all truth, he found me,

As a lonely soul, in truth, he did,

Souls dancing along stalactite caves,

Deeper under all

Steadfastness could be~

Love in a dream, of hope - and

His red beating heart, on the hill,

Contours that beautifully invisible,

Laughing in silky shades,

While touching her inner core...

He found me, he did.

Half gasping for some air,

And palpable deep feelings,

So she did, she did, for real;

And under the fog of the highlands,

His feelings entwined, buried,

For something deeper than lust,

For a lifetime, and trust,

He stood….

I don't quite get the 'he did' and 'she did' repetition for anything other than an affectation, but I do kind of like it. It grounds the poem to a down to earth level. And from there you can see the feelings being pretty intense, especially towards the end. As always, an enjoyable read.

I really like the opening line. In a dark hole, in all truth, he found me.....something deeper than lust. That's what's hard to find and to hold on to.
