Those Voices

Those Voices

A Poem by

Just another night of screaming voices.
She holds her head between her palms,
Aching for them to stop screaming their poisons.
Those words will never be erased.
"Hate yourself," they repeat.
She believes with her every heartbeat.

They slowly eat away her happiness,
Until all that's left is a gashed abyss.
Can't you see her need,
How she makes herself bleed?
Her only foes are trapped inside her head,
They'll never rest until she's dead.

"Starve yourself," they whisper.
She begins to gain a slimming figure.
Her stomach growls, but she ignores.
She's losing weight more and more.
She no longer believes she's beautiful,
Those terrible voices turned her delusional.

She's convinced that those voices are correct.
Her whole mind set is wrecked.
She's become the object of neglect.
Those voices had the biggest effect.
Who was there to give her the love she needed?
By believing them, she has conceded.

"Kill yourself," those voices scream.
Their persuasive poison is too extreme.
With every word, they crush her dreams,
Until all that's left is a broken self-esteem.
Nothing stops the pain she feels,
Except the peacefulness of death.

Author's Note

I wrote this because I've been having a huge struggle with my Schizophrenia, and I've been upset about it. So I figured, why not?
