Tick tock

Tick tock

A Poem by Rennie St. James
"

Short poem about racing through life

"

Tick tock

No need to stare at creeping hands

New toys meet technology’s demands

Still time is measured in minutes and hours

Not in moments as the bloom of flowers

Racing through the day to pay bills

Work interrupted only by meals

Then the TVs drone invites sleep

Mere minutes until the alarm’s beep

Another day follows at the same pace

Wishing for speed while marching in place

Another week to do it all again

Ceaseless without end

No cycles, no seasons

No rhyme, no reasons

No snooze on life’s clock

Tick tock, tick tock
