Don't Turn Around

Don't Turn Around

A Poem by Erin

Don't turn around
Behind you, they wait.
Don't look at them.
It isn't too late.

Look at me, look into my eyes.
Pretend you're oblivious to the fact that they're there.
Don't let them see your eyes
Or they'll know that you care.

They'll only hurt me,
But if you die, I'll die
Don't turn around
Don't let them see you cry.

Don't worry about me,
I swear I'll be safe.
I won't let you look behind
I won't make that mistake.

Just look at me,
Look into my eyes.
Just keep them locked on my face.
At least one of us should make it out alive.

Well done! Your poem creates a mental video of a terrible situation. You make me care about the characters without even knowing what is happening...let's my imagination take over. Nice flow and rhyme.

Nice story and mystery in the poem. I like the emotion of fear and danger in the words. The strong statements create a vision of a bad situation with no escape. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.
