Lunar Eclipse

Lunar Eclipse

A Poem by Erin

Scarlet red on a patchwork of blue
A beautiful sight this moon does produce.
Look at the moon dwelling in our shadow,
An eclipse most common, nobody cares.

Watch as the moon turns a deeper shade of red,
A moment so perfect and shown to so few.
This night is so beautiful
Watching the moon.

Red like the fire in a kitchen's hearth,
Red like the blood that flows through our veins.
The blue like the ocean, never one shade,
Sparkling with crystals so far away.

A lunar eclipse that lasts all night,
The beautiful sight forever engraved in my mind.
The moon is red and fading slowly,
This lunar night forever in my heart.

Erin, this is beautiful- You posted a reply on a thread I started in a group- I think it's called Anything and Everything (the group).
This is a wonderful poem! I'm a big fan of the use of colour in poetry so this is perfect x

Thank you. =)
And you say I write well ??
This is incredible ! I've never seen a lunar eclipse(except on TV) myself but this poem helps me realize this event.
The way you've explained the change of the color, "Watch as the moon turns a deeper shade of red" is just beautiful.
The emphasis on red is also refreshing. Such a different and rare poem...

Thanks. =) I've never seen an eclipse either, where I live doesn't exactly give for a prime viewing.. read more
