Little Desert Town

Little Desert Town

A Poem by Writing Walter

A poem about the podcast "Welcome To Night Vale"

"
Welcome to our little town, in the desert deep
Where strange lights pass over us, while we all pretend to sleep
Where creeping dread and mystery is everything you feel
Where angels are like mountains - as in, they're both not real

Let's first head to Big Rico's and have a slice to eat
Or we have something else for lunch, if it doesn't contain wheat
Do you see that helicopter? If it's black, then it's okay
But if it happens to be yellow, scream and run away

Do you see that house nearby, the one that isn't there?
It once swallowed a scientist with perfect, perfect hair
Let's visit Tamika Flynn, the bravest girl in town
She once vanquished a librarian, completely on her own

You want to see the dog park? Good God, what's wrong with you?
Nobody ever leaves alive, except maybe one or two.
Our weather here's the best thing that you will ever hear
It has the finest melodies, so soothing for your ears

Let's go visit Old Josie, and her friend Erika " with K
Her cookies taste angelic, her smile's as bright as day
But don't go to Desert Bluffs, they're wicked and they're vile
And for your safety, turn and run, if they ask you to smile

Today the sky is mostly void and Tuesday has been cancelled,
Thank God the thing with these small men has finally been handled
We live in fear of Valentine's and Street Cleaning Day
But overall the life in town is pretty okay

Visitor, our meeting has been nice, yes, really neat
But I must leave you to the other...things that you will meet
So this is our little town, where the Glow Cloud we all hail
By the way, my name is Cecil " Welcome To Night Vale.
