Lipstick Knives: A Shout-Out To Society's Potential Victims

Lipstick Knives: A Shout-Out To Society's Potential Victims

I had a friend once who was incredibly smart but insecure. She didn't have many other friends, and it started me thinking about how people are cruel and don't recognize the good in others. Society as a whole has become a place where people, especially middle and high schoolers, don't feel safe because of the social classes.

Double standards, double meanings

In their lipstick knives

Lipstick lies, whispered words

Hatred meant for your ears

They don’t understand

Your words are different and your lipstick black

No two-tone there

Not like them

A double shade of pink

They scoff and scorn when you walk by

Slam your pride into the ground

Kick dust over it to cover your individuality

Turn it brown, muddy " like them

They long to ruin you

Wanting to stop you from being noticed

More proof that, to them, looks are everything

They’re all the same inside:

Robotic, mindless trend settersfollowers

Stop them from covering you

It’s hard to paint over black.

Make them see that

You won’t be pressured into

Being like them.
