The Lost

The Lost

A Poem by Wynter Ignatius
"

I was feeling like I lost an old love interest and close friend for a time. Since I wrote this I have come to realize that might be very true.

"
I feel I've lost a friend
Why, I do not know
Suddenly you were gone
Without a single word
Or a whispered "goodbye"
Was it my betrothed
A triangle not meant
Closer to you maybe
Than I should
My love for you
Expressed without limits
Even residing for a time
Without intimacy between us
I miss my confidant
My own personal shrink
But also closest friend
Few knowing what you do
Not cut of the same cloth
Yet tied in shared thoughts
Emotional bonds ours to keep
More now sister or friend wanted
Than the lover I was proclaimed
I was young and confused
Caught up in emotion
You, my lighthouse, my rock
My guide in the storm
Now silent far too long
Something severed not known
Unable to repair the breach
Not knowing where it is
Secluded from you every way
No presence or page
No voice or call
Closed off from you
Thoughts unknown
My voice of understanding
Are we now the lost
Remnants of a day past?
