Tolerance

Tolerance

A Poem by Wynter Ignatius
"

Dealing with my issues in imaginative ways.

"
I've been good before
I tolerate far too much
Beast of burdens
Beyond a final straw
Taking too much blame
For issues at hand
On two-way streets
Yet collision was head-on

Maybe so
My past
Trying so hard
To leave it behind

Can you blame me too
Wanting to hold on to
A sliver of hope or a prayer
Even with the bad comes
A bit if good that could grow
Tolerance leading me astray

Time changes it all
Flip to the other side
Of the old coin
Tolerant, but refusing abuse
Able to discern the two
Letting go of the users
Holding on to the rare ones
That tolerate me and who I am

Ok with how weird I am
Able to show my true self
Masks discarded, bare to the world
Tolerant if much more

Able to love again
Despite your axe swings
At my ego and pride
Able to work with things
Rather than run away
When the chips are down
Getting more in return
Than I could ever repay
Peace of mind found in tolerance
