On the Heels of a Cur

On the Heels of a Cur

A Poem by Wynter Ignatius
"

Some people can only claim to love and will put more effort to faking it than actually loving someone.

"
The measure of integrity
Lies in the eyes of others
Seeing words in my behavior
Tethered and bound to time
Promises built upon the trust
Yet unspoken in twisted verbiage
Seeing of heroes in demonic birth
Alone in my introspective recess
Bequeathing beyond my commission
For subtle smile delicately lodged
Connections fluid as fresh concrete
Unsettled in impressionable souls
Flagellation by agnostic hands
Litany of a heartfelt thoroughfare
Eternal rivalry carves unseen
Scars obscured by wanton flesh
Warfare contained by frangible sympathy
Fight or flight an inevitable strain
Hard pressed for a softer side
Swooning for reluctant essence
Justly shattered part of a whole
Can solace establish and hold
Pieces of two broken vessels
Together for further musing
Or grasping straws of ill fate
Short straw destined to weed out
A man wanting of equal partner
And a woman castaway by a cad
Too shallow to see her glow
For loving her he cannot show
