Leading Myself to Water

Leading Myself to Water

A Poem by Wynter Ignatius
"

Now I know what my problems might actually be...

"

Much like a stallion left to pasture

Out for devices of self-destruction

Lead to water by its own intuition

Blinded to the obvious threats

Gorging to the near bursting seams

Upon waters outside his field

Drinking of wells not his own

A problem with this rusty steed

Long without mate to advise

Against greener pastures outside

Eyes see beyond the barriers

Looking to sown fields gleefully

Even if they would throw the a shoe

Neck out between the barbed wire

Repeated cuts ignored and buried

Under thick stomps from his hooves

Leading himself to another pool

Drinking to beyond his fill

More than the waters can give

Parched from a wanton tongue

Unquenched by continued drinking
