A Town that Never Sleeps

A Town that Never Sleeps

A Poem by Tori
"

You can't dream when you never sleep.

"

Don't break the trust,

we've tried so hard

to build up again.

Don't walk away

from everything you've faced,

it only marks your end.

The lies your lips speak,

Only tear us both apart,

you can't desert me now,

you can't end what you didn't start.

Turn away,

I'll do fine on my own,

but if you stray,

You will not make it on your own.

Dont' reveal the secret,

we've tried so hard to keep,

There's no such thing as escape,

in a town that never sleeps.

You've made a vow,

to us that is forever,

you've become apart of us,

and our seceracy you must treasure.

You've made your choice,

now you must make another,

Betray those who have accepted you,

or die before your brothers.

Love me and my people,

Or turn away and go,

but no matter where you travel,

death will surely follow.

Don't ignore the love,

We've tried so hard to keep,

there's no such thing as going back,

in a town that never sleeps.

You cry out that you didn't know,

that is was all a big mistake,

Intentions true or not,

I dare say it's much too late.

You turned your back on us,

You broke my heart,

and now all that you worked for,

will soon tear you apart.

You can't come back,

you've made your choice,

now that you have chosen death,

we no longer listen to your voice.

Chains of regret,

pose no effect,

on your empty black soul.

Yet bars of comittment,

you dread with resientment,

for fear they'll swallow you whole.

As long as your eyes,

remain at a stare,

No vengeful death,

will linger there.

But close them both,

and sleep will come so deep,

There's no such thing as dreams,

in a town that never sleeps.

A amazing poem. Your words brought me in and held me. Every line added to a perfect ending. So many good lines. I like them all.

Oh my Jesus Christ... Tori. I love it.It is so heartfelt that if I didn't know better (I think I know better right?) I'd think you were immortal. Ha haha ha. It's wonderful though buddy.
You cry out that you didn't know,
that is was all a big mistake,
Intentions true or not,
I dare say it's much too late.
You turned your back on us,
I thiink that was my favorite part.. Very dark. But lovely. :)
