Little Talks

A Story by Xavier Mathis McIntosh
"

A story of two lovers inspired by the song Little Talks by Of Monsters And Men

"
Was it yesterday? Was it my own? I don't know what to think anymore. I'm slowly dying inside.

Yes I have flaws, no life, but I used to have you.

Don't listen to a word I say, the screams all sound the same...

Please love me, and walk and live with me.

You only haunt my soul...

Though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore...

This house is a memory of you, and what we did.

Why did we live? Why did you leave?

Why did we die? Why couldn't I stay?

Don't listen to a word I say, the screams all sound the same...

Leave me...

Leave me...

Goodbye.

Okay, Xavier, when I saw the line "I'm dying inside" I wanted to push the button and go away. It was a line I didn't like. But as I read, I realized that it was the only line I didn't like. I really, really liked the emotion forcing these words and they moved together in lamentation but also creating something oddly special. Lines like "Though the truth may vary" lends a touch of sophistication to the writing and by the time I reached the final line, I discovered that I liked it very much. Congratulations on this one.
