My Mind

My Mind

A Poem by Harkness

As I look into the darkening to sky my mind again beings to wonder

Walking through fields of green and gold

Underneath the bright blue sky

My feet are bare but I feel no pain

The ground is soft with flowers

And my hands brush through the delicate wheat stalks

My mind is free, without a worry or a care in the world

Nothing is able to break the freedom and ease

Nothing but my mind itself

But gradually my mind returns to me

As I walk through the fields of brown and red

Underneath the dark grey sky

My feet are aided by sturdy boots but pain grips me as I walk

The ground is peppered with shrapnel

My hands grip my standard issue wooden rifle

My mind is heavy, weighed down by the toils of war

But no-one with take my freedom

Not while my mind is mine.

My mind is free, without a worry or a care in the world
Nothing is able to break the freedom and ease
Nothing but my mind itself

These are some honest and plain truthful words here
Some people need a shot of these words
Raelity and hope is how I see this write
Very well penned and said. Like your style
