i’ve swam all my life

and here i find myself drowning

my head clears the waves, for just a brief moment

a call for help

no response

pulled back beneath the waves

i am confronted by myself

the ghosts of my past dragging me deeper

so desperate for a hand

yet nobody comes

surrounded by others.

i am alone.

and i am drowning.

and as the water fills my lungs.

they collapse under the weight of my sins.
