Man of Wine

Man of Wine

A Poem by Adora.xo
"

Bleh

"

She said, that man…

He tasted of wine,

That man, he…

He was never really mine.

That man…

Oh, what a gentle-man he was,

He saved me from myself,

And he’d hold me just because.

That man…

Mm, and what a man he was,

He made love to me each night,

Like no other man does.

That man…

Oh lord, the sweetest man that ever was,

He kissed me in the rightest way,

And said it is I he loves.

That man… She sighed,

That man of mine,

Oh that man… she reminisced,

How he tasted of sweet wine.

This is really different. You make poetry that lives; you caputered the poetry of a moment reverie that was really beautiful with a slight hint of longing. This one writes almost like a modern day romanitc poem. I've always really liked the romantics because they really tried to caputure the poetry of the moment, the person, where they were and what they were feeling. This is a really beautiful poem! This is a good example of what Wordsworth called the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings recollected in tranquility. I loved it!

such a powerful love poem...beautiful...and i really liked the ending, it made me smile, because i was waiting for a twist, and that he was going to end up being bad...glad he wasn't.

What a beautiful love poem! I liked the repetition of "that man" and the flow that it created within the poem. A lovely image of him tasting like wine. I loved this piece. Well done! 100/100 and Favorited.

'He kissed me in the rightest way' - very delicate and true-shooting. This poem was touching in its vulnerable honesty.

Also that a man is compared to wine just strikes me as unbearably lyrical, you could not have gone wrong with such a metaphor! Great job!
