The Funny Thing

The Funny Thing

A Poem by Yasmin McClurg

You say you're feeling so alone,

That no one's here for you.

You say no one would miss you.

Well guess what I would.

You say you try you're best,

For that person you hold dear.

You say you still want to be her happiness,

When she feels nothing for you.

You say others can't think these thoughts,

Yet you yourself thinks them.

You offer money, say you're ugly,

Believe that no one loves you.

But wait, just for a second.

Just stop a think a while.

Think about who's still here,

Just look through your files.

Because the funny thing is,

The one who cares is standing here.

The funny thing is,

I'm the one who is filled with fear.

Fear of you doing something stupid.

Fear of you leaving for good.

You have all your girls around,

But which one of them could

Wait for you forever,

Just stand by your side.

Take all your grieve,

Take it all and hide -

Hide my own pain,

Can you not see it clear?

Because the funny thing is,

I will always be right here.
