Pillow in the Shape of You

Pillow in the Shape of You

A Poem by Thomas Yarbrough

Arranging the notes I've wrote

letters neither denied or mentioned

(your lack of repulsion

keeps it all in motion)

That with or without you lives on

(I fold a pillow in the shape of you)

I shake my hands

I squeeze the sun

Pacing for memory in the fly light

till moonset and madness co-exist

Stings  this needle  that sinews us

together (that with or without you

persists)

I fold a pillow in  the shape of you

I rock the feathers

                           I wring the seams

Years since the reasons were fresh

for the power rises from

reason’s death

Whether you came or not

matters not,

                           we carry on

(weighs the bed without objection)

For the absence of rejection

is the secret to your affection
