Phantom Man

Phantom Man

A Poem by Initium

There's a phantom nearby
who looks over my home.
I know he's here
because the church bell's tone.
He's dark and mysterious,
as all ghosts are.
He never sheds a tear.
He never shows a scar.
He's not scared of anything
but being eternally alone
and his fears are only revealed
when he tries to love me, but I won't.
I won't not by choice,
but by common sense.
With him, I won't get roses.
I won't get a picket fence.
He can't understand,
he never will.
I don't know how to make him;
I guess I've got hopes to kill.
But killing his hopes
is harder than killing him.
And killing mine?
Shall I ever love again?

I really like this. A bit dark, It has a subtle flow a little thin in some places but nevertheless there. Great write. Keep it up.
