I am Only a Man

I am Only a Man

A Poem by Vicky Zhuang Yi-Yin
"

I am only a man, of this Earth...

"

I am only a Man

And as a Man

I belong to Earth

Not to a country

Not to a place

I am only a Man

And as a Man

I am one with Earth

And with all other Men

We are all one race

I am only a Man

And as a Man

I roam the Earth

To learn from other

Man, Animal and Plant

I am only a Man

And as a Man

I live on Earth

To pray for salvation

For all that lives

I am only a Man

And as a Man

I take from the Earth

But have I not taken

Too much already?

I am only a Man

And as a Man

I purge the Earth

Driving it to extinction

Owning it for the wrong reasons

I am only a Man

And as a Man

I seize what is on Earth

Killing and destroying

Whatever comes in my way

I am only a Man

And as a Man

I am buried in the Earth

Eaten away by insects

Realizing it is too late…

Yes, we're destroying nature as we speak. Yet, nature will always find ways to adopt and evolve and the only thing who'll be purged are us. The piece has a powerful message and your writing in clear, beautiful and drives your point home. Let's hope we come to our sense before it's too late and we've already destroyed ourselves.

I write about self-determination in the lines...and the way one should look into themselves as a human being and the ideas, which put us on Earth...for its purpose...
