The Government

The Government

A Poem by YoungT
"

Just my thoughts

"
Children growing up in poverty.
Expected to commit the next robbery.
Steal and kill is what they are taught.
Freedom is the reason that they all fought.
Never received it.
The government deceived it.
Gory sights with no movement.
No one watching their back, no one to move with.
They live in a struggle.
Too much on their plate to juggle.
Young boys unaware if they will get older.
Little girls stranded making money on a corner.
Not the life one chooses to grow in.
Facing problems that only lead to sin.
No solutions within their paths.
Telling their stories through piercings and tats.
Unheard when spoken.
Judged until they are broken.
Television portrays a life they must not open.
But in their eyes they feel as if they are chosen.
All they know is weapons and drugs,
Leaving behind bodies with stab wounds and slugs.
I pray for these young soldiers.
For no one has ever lent them the right shoulders.
I study to preach.
Instead of lies the truth is what I want to teach.
The government can't control those who won't allow it.
I believe in that statement even though most doubt it.
