Conceited

Conceited

A Poem by Michelle Long

You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone away.
Until then it’s easy for you to sit back and say,
That you just don’t care; it didn’t go your way.
And from that point you let it be, let it slip away.

Then the day comes when you realize your part,
On the never-ending breaking of another’s heart.
But by then even their soul is so far apart…
They are gone; you should’ve been much more smart.

By now you too are finally breaking inside.
And you start to wonder why the world is so unkind.
Not aware of how limited and weak is your mind.
If you weren’t so poisoned, you could better find,
That if you’d really cared, your webs would unwind.

"Until then it's easy for you to sit back and say, That you just don't care"
its sad when you can actually do that and changes the way you look at someone forever
