A Queens Banquet

A Queens Banquet

A Poem by Yvette Shaw
"

Friendship and the realities of being attracted to the same Women

"

              A Queen’s Banquet…

In a perfect world, this all would be true,
my loyalty as a friend; always to you.

I tried, I did, I said the right words, but the
reality of my longing, was all that she heard.

If it helps you to know, we talked about you.
I said that I couldn’t, she said you were thru.

Somewhere in all that, her logic became real.
I had to take a moment and touch what I feel.

No longer about you, so far from being me,
the reality of this woman, this beauty, our
Queen.

At one point you said you loved her. Longed
for her. Ached. I felt that too, with just a pinch
of your hate.

We both entered willingly, into a game born of
magic, our ignorance of it’s rules, making it all
the more tragic...

It wasn’t about you, or ever about me, the truth
of it all…
                          she needed to feed.
