Alone.

Alone.

A Poem by Zachary Dary

Alone.
All alone.
Exactly what I wanted.
What I thought I wanted.
Alone.
I see everyone else.
They're playing, hanging, chilling,
Having fun, making love, being happy.
They're living.
I die while they live.
Alone.
I mutilate myself with every thought.
I finger the blade at night.
Alone.
It's a precision tool
Made for slicing.
It cuts through my flesh like its nothing.
I feel the tears growing longer and deeper.
It feels bad and I care.
Alone.
The crown some fake friends put on my head.
It is the fake smile I wear before my depressed visage.
Alone.
I show people my "truth."
I give strength to them with my lies.
They thank me and love me for it.
If only they knew.
If only they knew my reality.
