Already Over

Already Over

A Poem by Zachary Dary

You never go, you're always here.
Beneath my skin, always corrupting me.
I cannot get away.
I'm fading slowly.
I'd give it all to you.
Even as I'm falling, I always reach for you.
I know it's done.
I know its already over now.
My best defense you knocked down long ago.
Now I just run to you.
I can't resist, not any more.
Take everything from me.
I'm breaking apart.
And you won't help me keep myself together.
But I'd still give everything to you.
My heart, my life, my soul.
As the dark abyss swallows me,
I reach for your hand.
I reach for one gesture.
One insignificant thing to help me.
You look on in disappointment as I look at you with love.
And after all we've been through,
I finally come to realize.
You've already made your decision.
You made it long ago.
So my life with you is done.
It's already over.
And it's been over since I first met you.

Again, truly surprised there are no comments on yet another extraordinarily universally well written piece. I think the fact you used such a simple vocabulary and had such a silk like flow really worked well together to make this piece stand out. Great write.
