Sleepless night

Sleepless night

A Poem by Zachary Willis

On this night my sleep eludes me,
Can I find the words to soothe my brain.
Can I stop it from pounding like a freight train,
Down the tracks with the clickety clack.
It's running, it's racing
For some reason I'm mentally pacing.

Is it thoughts of you again.
My lover, my almost, my always a friend.
I can't help but wonder, have you ever lost sleep over someone like me.
Have I ever kept you up, have I never let you simply be.

You ask me to define,
The "why me" the "why at this time".
The only answer I can give is this..
I had no choice, my mind was made up.

From day one you ran through my head.
Seems the only time ill rest is when I'm dead.

Beautifully written. I can see you pacing, with your thought swimming around your head. It is very visual and I love how you put it in words. Well done
