Be True

Be True

A Poem by Marion Finnerty
"

A poem I wrote in high school that was published

"
Feels like I'm lost in a sea of confusion
Out of the stillness, deadly illusion
Magical time, always and a single tear
Nothing, whatever, to be so near
Near or far, a deathly cry
Don't go and mean a pathetic lie
Those days, what does it seem?
Always and forever, say what you mean.

Author's Note

Marion Finnerty
I wrote this in the midst of high school angst and I think I was trying to convey my loss of patience with youth drama. I used to go jogging every morning at 5am and at one of those times I wrote this poem. I was invited down to Washington, DC to read this at a Symposium but I was too young to catch a flight on my own lol.

I can remember feeling that way in high school as well. You have captured those emotions well in just a few short lines.
