"Prima Donna Wannabe"

"Prima Donna Wannabe"

A Poem by Zoe Anne

“Prima Donna Wannabe”

I’m going to let my hair unfurl,

‘Cause he needs to know that I’m a Material Girl.

I love diamonds and champagne,

The high heels and all the petty pains.

I love tasting fine wine,

And making myself shine.

The limelight is my best friend,

Yet it ignores me when I don’t want to pretend.

It doesn’t want the real me;

It just wants the fake me.

All I can do is take the ax and smash it to pieces,

And it’s still there to taunt at me; oh how it teases!

But he’ll always be there to tell me that everything’s alright,

Then he’ll pick me up and carry me into the night.
