A Story by Perfect Mistake

The painting beside the Mona Lisa

Knows no audience

It hangs on a brass peg

Centered on a great white wall

Protected by the museum it rests in

The painting beside the Mona Lisa

Is in a prime for viewing

But Da Vinci;s strokes hold all the fame

And the crowds that gather have eyes for me

As lovers so infamously do

The painting beside the Mona Lisa

Is insignificant

Placed where the shadows heads

Of a thousand viewers for its neighbor

Cast the canvas in darkness

The painting beside the Mona Lisa

Will outlive the adjacent materpiece

When its flashing cameras crack the paint of her face

And the layers of pigment wear thin

And she must be hidden away from the public

The painting beside the Mona Lisa

Will one day know the same

I like the logic of this poem. In time all things will fade away. I like the detail and description in the poem. A strong ending to a excellent poem.

and all the others along the path. I read somewhere that people queue for hours and spend less than a minute looking at art in the Louvre. So why have them at all. Beautifully written

A very interesting and well written poem. It seems you trying to say something more with this poem other than the obvious which is a good thing.
