The eternal bond...

A poem about friendship and how beautiful or ugly it can be.

Hatred can fade

Love can die

But so can you

Friendship, however

That is the eternal bond...

It can not be silenced

By the wave of a wand

It can not be destroyed

By a stab in the back

Nor by a misunderstanding

Nor by a business venture gone wrong

Friendship can not end

Over a disagreement of values

Ethics, or beliefs

If it does,

Then it is not friendship

 

Friendship is understanding,

Caring, compassion, and patience

Friendship is the truest love there is

Because there is no question

About if you could live with the other

Or stand to wake up next to them

Every morning

No question about who is right

Or who is wrong

For it does not matter

Friendship is the eternal bond

Because no matter who you are

What you do

The mistakes you make

Or the hearts you break

You still care about each other

And nothing can destroy that

Unless you let it

 

If that happens,

There is nothing to say

Only tears to be shed

For your best friend is gone

And the eternal bond

Has been....

I think you nailed it here, and anyone who has lost a friend knows what you are going through...
I'm sorry, BUT
there is ALWAYS a silver lining,....

This was a wonderful selection on friendship. I think it is what all should strive for myself! :)
Yet, i fear that this could also lead to a blinding as well. To say that no matter what happens the friendship should not be broken. That is also saying that it's ok to hurt the friend and underwhat you say, make it all ok.
That isn't the way it works some of the time. I think one must add that to err is human and forgiveness is divine.
For there are always friends who hurt eachother even though it was not intended.
Great Ideals! Good words! :) I just think it didn't show all the colors of the friendship rainbow.
But that's just my opinion.

This is a great testimonial to friendship. If you friendship is totally stomped, you can rest assured that whoever did that to you does not deserve your friendship. I like to give people infinite chances, but sometimes you have to just get some distance and allow people to grow up.

That reminds me of one of my better friends from when I was about 16. We got in a fight over a woman, and I just did not like his attitude. Whoa the days of being 16!
