Small Hands

Small Hands

A Poem by Abby L.
"

In the eyes of a child you will see the world as it should be. - Unknown

"

Small hands

Curly Strands

Tiny teeth

Hopes unsheathe

Small hands

World expands

New life

No strife

Small hands

Cupping sands

Heart grows

Kindness shows

Small hands

Found lands

Now Queen

And teen

Small hands

Gripping mine

Handed down

Family vine

Small hands

Now wife

Small Hands

Big life

Lovely. From the title (images of handprints in bright colours, done at school and displayed proudly as they run out of school to greet you) to the last line, you get images appearing before your eyes as each line unfolds, and takes us all back to that moment when you hold your hand against your dad's and think he is a giant :)
Those small hands do get bigger though, and find all manner of mischief, even when they are fully grown and we should know better :)
Beautiful and thought provoking words, taking me back to my own days of small hands.
