A Poem by claustrophobic closet

Here we are,

Surrounded by what life has thrown at us.
remembering our ghosts of the past and envisioning our futures.
So little do we know about the truth,
yet our opinions echo around our every trail.

Succumbing to indoctrination may not have been our choice,
but the lies we believed have become a part of us,
and so eagerly do we leap to defend them.

Our masks so engraved in our skin,
and our minds drenched in petty thoughts.
So sickening is this squander of intellectual talent,
yet, in this sophistication lies my hope of freedom.
