The Remnants of Tomorrow

The Remnants of Tomorrow

A Poem by Abdul Aziz

We are the progeny of infamy

Reared in the age of insolence;

We are products of emptiness;

The hollows killing resonance.

We are robbers of the poor

And feeders of the obese.

We are the doctors of the healthy

And enemies of the diseased.

We are protectors of falsehood

And persecutors of the righteous.

We are the vanguard of injustice,

The advertisers of the audacious.

We are the pursuers of reason

And the destroyers of logic.

We are materialistic romantics,

Searching for monetary magic.

We are right when we are wrong,

And wrong when we are right.

We are harbingers of doom

And preachers by daylight.

We are the mistakes of a generation,

The addled and the confused.

We are a generation of mistakes,

The battered and the bruised.

We are the remnants of tomorrow

Tearing at the fabric of today;

As we hope for droplets of time

To wash our disgrace away.

Very interesting,intelligent and powerful words.In the first few lines i like how well you have captured the empty feeling...as in the lines,
We are products of emptiness;

The hollows killing resonance.
'hollows killing resonance' is a nice phrase,it can be thought of in different ways.I would like to understand your thought behind it ?..
Another two lines which stimulated my thinking were
We are the pursuers of reason

And the destroyers of logic.
How different are reason and logic..perhaps logic is spontaneous and reason is practiced,coerced,taught.
i feel the last two stanzas are brilliantly penned down.

We are the mistakes of a generation,

The addled and the confused.
You have thought a lot about this cause what you have penned down here is a thought which can only come with a thinking which is deep,honest and yet precise.Mistakes of generations pile on us and some mistakes that were erred by our predecessors can not be undone by us...but yes all we can hope for:droplets of time to wash our disgrace away.
Brilliant.

Captivating, sad but true. Compelling as well as sickening. Nicely picked words, beautiful work. Reminiscent of Tyler Durden's words for me

A deep and powerful peice. The masterfully subtle use of ryhme scheme along with the use of contrasts gave the work an entrancing musicality whilst telling common truths in new ways. You never cease to amaze me old pal.

I like this...every single words tell many things and equal to saying many pages..everything you mention is correct, true, vivid and provoke the readers to think about them..definitely I like this poem..but I don't understand why even though this poem is so beautiful and hatred...you didn't add hope in this poem..true..may be the way we live is hopeless..but we should always hope for better future for everyone...I felt like this poem is not complete..something important is really missing out of meaningfulness of this poem..

resonates within the soul/mind/heart~a hollow shell humans have made themselves out to be~powerful mirror directed head on at the masses~
