Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by Abdul Aziz

INSOMNIA

A tiny petulant thought cloaked with arrogance

Traverses the annals of my mind,

Its movement reverberating with cold throated silence

As it withdraws its steely gray revolver

To incinerate any remnant of coherence

Unwittingly left behind

In the wake of the chaos it created

By setting fire to the foundation of sanity,

Rapidly creating rippling vacancies

In the fabric of my sleep.

I'm starting to feel that William Carlos William's theories are true. There is a certain something to rhythm and the format in which the words are put. Like, I'd say syllables with "r", "a" and "e" syllable sounds seem harsh, whilst "s", "y" and "f" seem soft. There's much more to poetry to learn and cherish.

Now, the reason for this mentioning is that, you've used a lot of 'r' syllables and those perfectly fit the "Insomniac" theme. Maybe you didn't intend that. But, it really does.

Keep writing :)
