Let sleeping dogs die

Let sleeping dogs die

A Poem by Abdul Aziz

The sweet scent of sweat,

The scent of success

Harboring a million sleeping dreams

Waiting to be roused

By the plans of accident,

Emanates from this quaint room,

Unbound from the fetters of fear,

And given flight by hope.

Let sleeping dogs die,

The world does not come to the arm chair critic,

Rolling with mirth on the dirt of failure.

These tongues can penetrate the armor of work;

Do not let them get you when you are down.

Life peeks shyly at you from the corner,

Winking a peck to your lips,

As she glides out and beckons you to follow.

What are you waiting for?

I'm impressed by the use of alliteration and there are some amazing phrases.

Let sleeping dogs die,
The world does not come to the arm chair critic,
Rolling with mirth on the dirt of failure.
These tongues can penetrate the armor of work;
Do not let them get you when you are down.

But everything else in the poem was equally quotable.

I really like the second stanza. The imagery is quite good!

A tense meeting of minds, fluid and sure of flow, well written, and the imagery lends the battle of time, well done.
