Distant...

Distant...

A Poem by abhas
"

about a friend... who seems to have gone cold and distant...

"

A muse trapped in a bad dream,

Fate or just another one that life’s scheme,

In honour or to save oneself,

Seems nothing I could do to help,

Some tell me it’s my fault,

But what about those memories kept in the vault?

Those four walls now contain a maze,

Still they say it was just a passing phase,

Fireworks in the night sky decorates as it may,

The smoke left behind to oblivion does sway,

Of all the other things I do try to pray,

By an incantation or a magic wand should take your pain away,

Shall I ask from whom you hide today?

Is it the tears that were soaked up in clay?

The girl from your novel may have reached her goal,

And you’re still trying to play her role,

I know your words are stronger than mine,

But you know us... we’ll move in a straight line,

God! You track loops and circles instead,

And leave your words to rot and be unread,

How much did your sorrow bribe you to be this way?

I can shriek, scream and deny... still I see no ray...

You have sown all under the sun,

While all of us did nothing but sting and stun,

Why don’t you believe your life’s not a child’s playground?

It crystal clear ahead and still you turn around,

Your mastery will conjure up excuses in time,

How are they today... the words that you rhyme?

The door’s still open, there are no keys,

It’s never too old, may be needs a little grease,

A fish out of water yet you get out of hand,

It’s not too late but quick falls the sand,

I know the souls dried all the milk from your bosom,

In a life so cold and grim it’s hard for you to blossom,

I’ve cried once, I pledged it won’t happen before the end,

But I do want to cry again... when you come back my friend...

. ohhhh ... i know this pain ... and i know the interminable wait ... when one's waiting for a friend to return ... pain doesn't go away ... but when i see em ... i know that there's at least one potent reason for me to remain alive ... even when i've become incredibly slow and random and quiet in pune ... i so hope your friend recognizes your love and returns ... and when you cry then ... i'll cry happy tears with you ... needless to add, this is beautifully written ...

The poem is amazing. I like the feel and the struggle felt in your words. Hard to watch a friend fall and can't come back. A sad ending to a outstanding poem. Thank you.
