Rock a bye baby

I saw the way you looked at me from summer time to spring,
The way your eyes looked up to me and the joy your smile would bring,
You were so small, I held you in my arms, but no one could understand,
The fire lighting up your heart was burning out in my hands,
We played with you and taught you to walk like normal parents should,
We loved you so and made you feel as safe as we could,
But one day the time came when we knew it was more than a cough,
You fluttered down beneath the ground as your little heart switched off.

Forgiveness

Time to say goodbye to my one true friend,
You were so loved and it wasn't time but I wish I could have stayed with you right down to the end.
My heart breaks when I think of how you changed from positivity to inactivity,
how you fell face first into a world full of needles and medication,
how you got trapped in a cycle of pain and frustration.
When I think of the person I befriended all those years ago and I think of what just happened to you just days ago,
my head pleads insanity and my heart cries out lied,
I blame myself for everyone who ever dies.
I wish it was me getting buried in your grave,
Because I would give anything if you I could save,
I'd give the moon, I'd give the stars if my life could just be yours.
But nothing can save it, no nothing can change it,
I'm sorry you're suffering, please help me to cope with this.
Please help me to find the key.
Because in the end all I can say is I'm sorry, please forgive me.

I do

Bright lights,
Clear skies,
A perfect day, to my surprise
The groom is coming without delay,
His groomsmen beside him in dismay
My hands are shaky,
My heart sunk deep,
My life is being swallowed up in front of me,
To say "I do" is the biggest step,
To declare my love is a promise I should have kept,
But time is ticking and the bridesmaids have left,
The bells are 'a' ringing,
And the best man overslept,
My heart is pounding and my groom is out of his depth,
The audience are shocked and their chattering starts to digress,
They say things like 'I'm a monster' and 'I'm totally a mess,
As I stand there dead silent with no one else to blame,
I take a final look at the family I could have had,
As I run out through the doors, making my escape through the back,
My groom runs out behind me and shouts my name through the hurt,
He tells me he still loves me and that we can make this work,
I shake my head and lose a tear to the ground beneath my feet,
I say goodbye and turn around as he looks back in defeat.
