A Poem by ac979a7x

Denial of carnal impulses,

Denies what makes us human. But

when neither fame nor passion

or the light of gold and treasure,

succeed to fill a never-ending pit

Emanating from within. Can

drive one to the edge

of insanity. Like a bat out of hell

searching for a counterbalance

as inner saints and sinners collide.

Tearing the soul in two, leaving a cranium

in the sanitarium and

a temple destined to lie in ruins.
