cloak

cloak

A Poem by acidmonkey

Depression,
cloaked in forced smiles.
Locked within ourselves,
whispering like an echo.

"Trust is for the strong",
it mocks your effort.
Like a hyena for prey.
"you are a coward",
it reminds you with a chuckle.
You believe it slowly.

The trust you once had,
is now a broken vase.
once secure,
now shattered,
like your hope.
You know it is hopeless.

Faith is a straw house,
in a tornado.
Blown to pieces,
without a structure.

The descriptions you used in this were very precise and on point! Points for that. And depression is definitely being 'locked within ourselves'. The inner voice us can easily turn us against ourselves, destroy ourselves. There is always a light, a spark somewhere that is willing to guide us in a different direction. We just need the proper outlet, instead of holding all we hate and fear inside. We need to let the fear go, set your heart free and smile to the sky above. Because this is who we are, everyone isn't and can't be the same, but we can be who we want. Don't bother worrying about those people who don't understand what you're going through. Just be you, no one should worry about much else.
