Tell me

Tell me

A Poem by Daz

Say what you mean
and mean what you say
tell me the things that trouble you
those things that make you laugh

when you're away from me
where will you be
say the words
to set me free

am I your only
or is there another who pleases you
tell me the places for me to touch

whisper those things
that no other should know
confide in me

show me the future you see
tell me how you want me
to be

I really enjoyed reading this. Technical: the word in the first line of the second stanza should be "you're" as in "you are" instead of the possessive "your". Otherwise the piece seemed perfect. That opening line was something my own dad told me often and was his greatest parenting advice to me as well. The last verse reminded me of the song "Smooth" by Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas where the lyrics say. "I'd change my world to better suit your mood". Hopelessly romantic. A great read, F.

A wonderful poem Daz. The opening stanza is particularly powerful and one I can relate to. You convey your thoughts so openly while some people can be so deep, it is difficult to ever truly understand them . Great work.

Thanks for your review.
This poem flows so beautifully. “tell me the places for me to touch” is such a gorgeous line.
